The prostate is a small gland that only boys and men have. It sits just below the bladder. It is small in children and grows when someone grows up.
Inside, the prostate is full of tiny hollow pockets. Luminal cells line the inside of each pocket. They are tall, like columns, and they face the hollow middle.
Press Make fluid on the 3D model to see the luminal cells fill the pocket.
Sperm cells carry half of the instructions (DNA) needed to make a baby. When a sperm cell and an egg cell join, a baby can start to grow.
Luminal cells make a thin, milky fluid. It mixes with sperm cells and helps keep them healthy and able to swim.
The prostate wraps around the tube that carries urine out of the body, a bit like a ring.
