Lesson 1
One layer on the lens
The lens is a clear, bendy disc behind your pupil. It helps bend light to make a sharp picture.
Its front is covered by just one layer of small, box-shaped cells. Over the top of them is a thin, clear wrapper called the capsule.
Lesson 2
Making new layers
Near the edge of the lens, these cells divide. The new cells stretch out longer and longer until they become lens fiber cells.
Each new fiber gets added on top of the older ones, like a new layer on an onion. They also help keep the lens healthy and clear.
Try thisPress Grow new fibers on the 3D model to see new fiber cells form at the edge of the lens.
Wow!Your lens never stops growing! It adds new layers slowly your whole life.
