A star with long arms
Fibrous astrocytes are star-shaped glial cells. They live in the white matter, the part of the brain full of long axons, which are like wires.
Their arms are long, thin, and smooth, with fewer little branches than the bushy kind of astrocyte.
Their arms are packed with tiny threads that make them strong, a bit like the cables inside a bridge.
